Vivo is reportedly working on a new smartphone called the Vivo Y55A. The smartphone has been spotted on China’s TENAA certification website. The listing also includes a couple of images of the device. Based on the images, the smartphone could come with a metal body. The smartphone looks very similar to Xiaomi’s Redmi 3s smartphone. Besides the design, the TENAA certification also reveals some of the specifications and features of the smartphone. Right now, there’s word on the availability of the smartphone, but it is likely to be launched soon. Another report says the smartphone could be available in three variants. Both the images listed on TENAA website show the front and back panel of the smartphone. The front panel of the smartphone is in white color with the front camera lens visible on the top, and the home button with other controls located at the bottom. The back panel of the smartphone has the rear camera lens located on the top left corner. The Vivo branding can be seen in the center with antenna lines cutting across the top and bottom parts of the back panel. The volume rocker and power button are located on the right side of the smartphone.
What is worth pointing out here is that the smartphone resembles the Xiaomi Redmi 3s smartphone, except that the Vivo smartphone doesn’t have a fingerprint scanner at the back. The similarity in design mostly comes from how the camera lens is placed and the two lines cutting across the top and bottom part of the back panel.
According to TENAA listing, the Vivo Y55A will feature a 5.2-inch HD (720p) display. Under the hood runs an octa-core 1.4GHz processor paired with 2GB of RAM. The smartphone comes with 16GB of onboard storage, which is further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. On the photography front, the smartphone sports an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel selfie camera. The Vivo Y55A smartphone is powered by a 2,650mAh battery. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
As spotted by PhoneArena, the Vivo Y55 could be available in three variants – Vivo Y55, Vivo Y55L, and Vivo Y55N. The smartphones have same set of specifications, but the Y55L and Y55N are expected to be exclusive to Chinese network carriers, whereas the Y55 could support all the networks.
The Vivo Y55 is believed to be an upgraded version of the Y51 smartphone, which debuted in China in December last year. The Y51 has a 5-inch qHD (540 x 960) display. It runs Android 5.0.2 Lollipop and is powered by 64-bit quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz along with 2GB of RAM. The smartphone has 16GB of onboard storage, and supports expandable storage up to 128GB via microSD. It comes with an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front facing camera. Camera features of the smartphone include Face Beauty, HDR and panorama modes. Connectivity options of the smartphone include dual-SIM, 4G, Bluetooth, Wi-FI, GPS and microUSB.
