Vivo has quietly unveiled a new mid-range smartphone in India called Y71, and it will soon be available to purchase from retail stores across India. The Vivo Y71 is the first smartphone in Y-series to sport a tall 18:9 display. The smartphone ditches the fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication and comes with Face Unlock instead.

91Mobiles reports that the smartphone will be priced at Rs 10,999. At its price point, the Vivo Y71 will take on the likes of the popular Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and the Honor 9 Lite.
The Redmi Note 5 starts at Rs 9,999 for the base variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, whereas the top end variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage will set you back by Rs 11.999. The Honor 9 Lite, on the other hand, is priced at 10,999 for the 3GB RAM with 32GB storage model, and Rs 14,999 for the 4GB RAM with 64GB storage model.

Vivo Y71 specifications and features
The smartphone flaunts a 5.99-inch HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio and resolution of 720x1440pixels. Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 octa-core SoC fabricated on 14nm process. The smartphone comes with 3GB of RAM with 16GB onboard storage, and a microSD card slot for further expansion.
In the photography department, the Y71 comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera with an LED flash, and a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calling. On the connectivity front, the Vivo Y71 comes with 4G LTE, dual SIM card slots, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS connectivity options. To keep things ticking, the smartphone is armed with a 3,360mAh battery. In the software department, the Y71 runs Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box, with a layer of Vivo’s custom FunTouch skin on top.
