Vivo has slashed the price of Vivo Y81, the smartphone that was launched just last month in India. The Chinese smartphone maker is announcing a price cut of Rs 1,000 on the smartphone, which makes it direct competitor to smartphones like the Realme 2, Honor 9N, Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 and the Redmi Note 5.
Vivo had launched Vivo Y81 at a retail price of Rs 12,990 in India last month. After price cut, the smartphone is now available for a price of Rs 11,990 and the discounted price is applicable on the official website of Vivo and its e-commerce partner Amazon India. Vivo is currently the third largest smartphone brand in India but it mostly sells smartphones in the mid-range and premium mid-range segment.
With revised price on the Vivo Y81, the company is actively targeting the entry-level price segment, where Xiaomi holds a upper hand right now. Vivo Y81 does not really have anything unique to fend off much acclaimed devices like the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro but it is worthy competition in the segment.
