Vivo Y81 received a price cut of Rs 1,000, making it a new threat to Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5 last week. Now, the smartphone has received a new variant in India that comes with more memory than the existing model. With the new model, Vivo is only adding extra RAM while retaining all the other specifications of the smartphone.
Vivo Y81 4GB RAM variant launch: Price in India
Vivo has silently introduced a 4GB RAM variant of its Y81 smartphone in India. The information about its launch in India came via a tweet from the Mumbai-based retailer Mahesh Telecom. The 4GB RAM variant of Vivo Y81 is priced at Rs 13,490, making it a strong play in the sub-Rs 15,000 price segment. To recall, Vivo Y81 with 3GB of RAM was launched in India at a retail price of Rs 12,999. After a price cut of Rs 1,000, the smartphone currently retails for Rs 11,990 in India.

Vivo Y81 4GB RAM variant launch: Specifications and Price
The Vivo Y81 is a mid-range smartphone with a 6.22-inch display that supports a notch and has thinner bezels around it. The smartphone also has a smaller chin at the bottom that translates to better screen-to-body ratio. As far as build quality is concerned, we are looking at a plastic body and not metal unibody design like other phones in this segment.
Powering the Vivo Y81 is an octa-core MediaTek Helio P22 CPU, which is an octa-core CPU clocked at 2.0GHz. The smartphone comes with 4GB RAM and 32GB storage and supports expandable storage up to 256GB via microSD card slot. On the camera front, Vivo has equipped the Y81 with single 13-megapixel rear camera supporting f/2.2 aperture and phase detection autofocus. There is a 5-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture.

Vivo Y81 supports WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and runs Funtouch OS 4.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. It lacks fingerprint sensor but packs a 3,260mAh battery and will be available in black color variant. With a retail price of Rs 13,490, the Vivo Y81 will take on Realme 2 Pro, Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 and Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro.
