MediaTek Helio P22 was announced early this week and the first smartphone based on the platform is now here. Vivo is the first smartphone maker to launch a device basd on MediaTek Helio P22 platform. The Chinese smartphone maker launched the Vivo Y83 which is powered by the Helio P22 chipset. The device like most other smartphones launched in the recent times features a premium design and brings the full-screen display to the mid-range segment. It sports a 6.22-inch display with a HD+ resolution of 1520 x 720 pixels. It also features a notched display which allows the company to squeeze more pixels into the design. The display translates to a taller aspect ratio of 19:9 which is same as the one seen on company’s flagship X-series devices. The smartphone seems to sport an edge-to-edge display design but it does have a chin at the lower-side. The Vivo Y83 seems to have been built using unibody metal design and the back panel has a mirror finish with glossy coating. The smartphone should be available in aurora white, polar black and red colors.
In terms of specifications, the Vivo Y83 is powered by MediaTek Helio P22 which is an octa-core CPU with eight Cortex A53 cores clocked at 2.0GHz and is based on 12nm process. The chip also combines Neuropilot tech which comes with support for TensorFlow and neural networking. The processor is supported by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

On the camera front, the Vivo Y83 comes with a 13-megapixel camera at the back with a f/2.2 aperture. There is also an 8-megapixel selfie shooter with AI beautification mode. The Vivo Y83 comes with 3,260mAh battery and runs Funtouch OS 4.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. In terms of pricing, the Vivo Y83 is priced at RMB 1,498 (around Rs 15,000). The smartphone will go on sale via Vivo’s online shop in China. It comes bundled with a protective case and earphone.
