It’s Monday evening, and it’s time for our daily news wrap. The week kicked off with plenty of new smartphone launches, and some interesting announcements. Today Vivo launched a new smartphone called the Y83 Pro, and we also got to see a rumor around its upcoming mid-range Y23 device. Samsung’s Galaxy A6+ got a price cut, while BSNL revised its Rs 699 broadband plan with faster download speeds. That’s just gist of it, there’s plenty of other news stories worth talking about, and here are some of the most important ones of the lot.
Vivo Y83 Pro launched in India, X23 goes official in China
Vivo Y83 was unveiled in the Indian market for a price of Rs 14,990 in June. Now, Vivo has launched a higher-end variant of the smartphone dubbed Vivo Y83 Pro. The smartphone is priced at Rs 15,990, and will be available from brick-and-mortar stores across India soon.
Besides that, Vivo has officially listed the X23 on its Chinese website for pre-orders. The new mid-range smartphone is said to carry a similar waterdrop-styled notch design as the Oppo R17, and a screen-to-body ratio above 91.2 percent. It is expected to have high-end hardware, including an in-display fingerprint sensor. Vivo will be revealing full specifications on August 21.
Moto G6 Play Paytm Mall discount
Moto G6 Play was launched in June at a starting price of Rs 11,999. But now the smartphone is available with over Rs 2,000 worth of discounts. Paytm Mall is offering discounts on the top variant of the smartphone, which comes with 32GB storage and 3GB RAM. The company is offering an eight percent discount, bringing down the price to Rs 12,000, and further a 13 percent discount on using the code ‘MOB13’ during the purchase. However, the discount value will be credited to your Paytm Wallet for purchase of other items.
Samsung Galaxy A6+ gets a price cut
Launched originally for Rs 25,990 in May, the Samsung Galaxy A6+ is now getting a price cut of approximately Rs 4,000. This is the second price cut the smartphone has received in two months. Last month, Samsung had slashed its price by Rs 2,000.
BSNL revises its Rs 699 Broadband Plan
In order to be ready for the competition from Reliance JioGigaFiber, BSNL is revising its Rs 699 broadband plan to offer faster download speeds of 20Mbps and an FUP limit of 700GB. Earlier the download speed of this plan was 10 Mbps. Speeds will be reduced to 2MBps after the completion of the FUP limit. That said, the calling benefits will remain the same. It should be noted that the Rs 699 plan is only available in Chennai circle.
Nokia 6.1 Plus to be Flipkart exclusive
Nokia 6.1 will be launching tomorrow in India, and now a microsite confirms that it be a Flipkart exclusive. The teaser comes with same image and video posted by Nokia Mobile India on its social media pages. The teaser also hints at the possible launch of another smartphone alongside of it, which could possibly be the Nokia 5.1 Plus.

In other news, Asus is rolling out a new update for the Zenfone 5Z that brings Android 9 Pie-like gesture navigation on the smartphone. Besides that, it is also being reported that Reliance Jio GigaFiber will be offering 100GB of high-speed internet usage at a speed of 100Mbps per month, for the next three months as its initial preview offer.
