Vodafone has introduced a new one-year data plan for its subscribers in Tamil Nadu that comes with discounted data benefits all year long. The yearly data pack can be availed with a one-time payment of Rs 1,501 which offers 15GB of instant data and offers benefit of 1GB data at Rs 53 a year. The new offer is available only to prepaid consumers in the region. Following the one-time payment, the 15GB data is credited upfront. With a validity of 28 days, the new data pack is available in three denominations. The annual data pack is priced at Rs 1,501 and offers instant 15GB of data at the time of recharge. It also comes with special recharge benefits of 1GB data at Rs 53, 2GB data at Rs 103, and 5GB data at Rs 256. The second type of data pack is priced at Rs 748 and credits 3GB of instant data for a duration of six months along with 1GB of additional data at Rs 106. The third data pack of Rs 494 denomination offers 2GB of instant data for six months and an additional 1GB of data at Rs 122. One needs to note that these offers are only valid for 3G data as Vodafone is yet to extend its 4G services in the Tamil Nadu circle. In the past, Airtel announced a similar yearly data plan for its prepaid subscribers. Priced at Rs 1,498, the data pack offered 1GB of 4G/3G data upfront with a validity of 28 days. Following the first recharge, users could avail 1GB of 4G/3G data recharges at Rs 51 year-long. Additionally, if users opted for the Rs 748 pack, they would get 1GB 4G/3G data upfront and could continue with the same data benefit of 1GB 4G/3G at Rs 99 over a period of six months. On the heels of demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, this week Vodafone also allowed the users of its m-Pesa mobile wallet to withdraw cash from its outlets. There are currently over 120,000 Vodafone m-Pesa outlets across the country out of which 56 percent of the outlets are located in rural India. Vodafone M-Pesa customers do not need to stand in long queues outside ATMs and bank branches for cash. We have invested in building a nationwide network of over 120,000 M-Pesa outlets, equivalent to the numbers of bank branches in the country, said Suresh Sethi, Business Head, Vodafone M-Pesa, in a statement.
