This is a strategic move to keep its maximum revenue contributing circle satisfied, while Airtel rolls out lucrative offers asking people to covert to 4G. It is important to note that the Double Data offer is available only to pre-paid customers availing data recharge via 121, special offer section on the company website or through the My Vodafone app, and is not available through third party services like Freecharge or Paytm. Vodafone is bound to feel the pressure, now that Airtel has launched its 4G services commercially, and the Double Data offer is an effort towards retaining its customers. The company has already started 4G trials in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Karnataka and Kerala. However, Vodafone’s business head for Mumbai Ishmeet Singh told Financial Times that the company isn’t ready for a commercial 4G roll out yet, and will launch its services only by the end of the year.

Currently, the special offers section only shows two offers, one which gives 125MB 3G data for Rs 44, and 375MB 3G data for Rs 147. On the app, you can see an offer for Rs 1,847 which gives 20GB data for 28 days. Earlier, Rs 1,847 recharge fetched 10GB of 3G data.
