Idea launches 4G service in Kolkata, offers 10GB free data for 7 days

Idea commences 4G operations in Kolkata post completion of merger with Vodafone.

Vodafone Idea Ltd., the largest telecom service provider in India, has commenced 4G operations in Kolkata on Idea’s network. As part of Pujo season, the telecom player announced that Idea customers in Kolkata metro will be able to experience the 4G service. Alongside the new service, Idea also offers 10GB free data that will be valid for 7 days for all its customers in the region.

“We are delighted to extend our world class 4G services to over 3.1 million Idea customers in Kolkata, fulfilling their ever-increasing infotainment needs with a Free 10 GB Data offer, during the auspicious occasion of Durgo Pujo. Additionally, with nearly 1200 sites on ICR in Rest of West Bengal circle, Idea users in the state will enjoy unmatched 4G coverage and seamless data experience,” said Shivan Bhargava, Circle Head – Kolkata and RoB, Vodafone Idea Ltd.

In a released statement, Vodafone Idea Limited confirmed that this one-time 4G launch data offer will be valid till October 20. Those interested in availing this free offer can subscribe by simply dialing *800*45# from any Idea number on a 4G compatible smartphone.

Idea is able to offer 4G service to customers in Kolkata due to the completion of its merger with Vodafone India. With the availability of 4G network, Idea users in Kolkata will be able to experience high-speed internet on 4G and will improve experience across Digital Idea apps.

In order to streamline the experience, the company is also offering complimentary 4G SIM card upgrade for its customers in Kolkata. All of its customers can avail a complimentary 4G SIM card by visiting company showrooms or any leading retail store. Bharti Airtel and Vodafone have also been strengthening their 4G network while Reliance Jio claims to have pan-India 4G support since the launch of its commercial service in late 2016.
