The company believes this move will help it promote the Internet usage. These rates are currently applicable in Karnataka, UP West and Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh circles and will be rolled out nationally in a phased manner. However, the tariff is only valid for those users who don’t subscribe to a monthly data plan.
Last year, Vodafone along with other operators had lowered the 3G tariffs in order to push the data usage amongst the masses. In fact last month Vodafone had declared that it had recorded a 50 percent increase in data consumption. The move will further help the company in generating more data revenues.
