Catching up in the tariff plan race, Vodafone today announced a new prepaid plan which counters the recent plan revisions by Airtel and Idea Cellular. Priced at Rs 158, the new data plan is available for subscribers in the Kerala circle. While the plan does offer data and calling offer, sadly there is no SMS benefit.
The Rs 158 prepaid plan offers you unlimited voice calls including Local, STD, and roaming calls within India. You also get 1GB per day 4G/3G data quota for a validity of 28 days, which takes the total data benefit to 28GB. It is to be noted that the unlimited voice calls benefit comes with a cap of 250 minutes per day, and 1,000 minutes per week.
As Telecomtalk reports, the Rs 158 plan appears to be restricted to the specific circle, and it is unclear if the operator will expand it to other circles in the coming days.
In comparison, if you look at the Airtel Rs 149 data plan, it offers similar benefits of unlimited voice calling including roaming calls, along with per day 1GB/day data quota for a validity period of 28 days. However, what makes the Airtel offer more lucrative is that it comes with 100 SMS/day benefit as well, which Vodafone is not offering.
There’s also an offer by Idea Cellular which counters the Rs 158 plan by Vodafone. The Rs 149 plan by Idea also offers 28GB data benefit, unlimited voice calls and 100 daily SMS for a validity of 28 days. However, this plan is restricted to the Himachal Pradesh circle.
In addition to the Rs 158 plan, Vodafone also introduced a new Rs 151 plan in the same circle. The plan offers unlimited voice calls, including roaming calls, and 1GB data for 28 days. Airtel and Idea Cellular offer similar plans, with SMS benefits, priced cheaper at Rs 93 and Rs 109 respectively.
