Reliance Jio started the biggest telecom war last year with the official release of its 4G services and the uber cheap offers it brought forward. Since then, Jio s biggest competitors Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular have been on their toes announcing new offers to come at par with the 4G monster. The latest in town is Vodafone which has announced a new 4G offer on the very day Jio announced its latest Dhan Dhana Dhan offer. Banking on its SuperNet 4G services, Vodafone customers will get 4GB of free data on upgrading to a 4G network. This offer is currently available in all the 17 circles where Vodafone operates and offers 4G services. The 4G offer by Vodafone is applicable for both prepaid and postpaid customers. Vodafone prepaid customers on upgrading to a 4G network will get 4GB of free data which they can use for a period of ten days. Vodafone postpaid customers on the other hand can use the free 4GB of 4G data till their next billing cycle. The 4GB free data will be added to their data balance within two hours of upgrading to a 4G SIM. Vodafone customers can avail the 4G SIM cards from all the Vodafone stores, Vodafone Mini Stores and from multi brand outlets as well. In addition to this, Vodafone customers can also call *121*444# to get the 4G SIM card delivered to their doorstep.
Vodafone has laid out some steps as well to make it clearer on upgrading to a 4G SIM. After getting the 4G SIM card from the aforementioned places, one needs to send an SMS SIMEX <your 20 digit new 4G SIM Card number> to 55199 from their existing Vodafone number. One will receive a response from 55199 with partial SIM number entered to which one should reply by entering the last 6 digits of their new number within 2 hours of receiving the SMS. A success SMS will be sent by Vodafone after which the SIM card should be activated within 20 minutes. ALSO READ: Vodafone partners with Amazon Prime Video to offer special 4G plans
As mentioned above, Vodafone and other telcos have been rigorously coming up with new offers and plans to keep its customers at bay. This new offer by Vodafone comes as an effort to faintly tackle Reliance Jio s Dhan Dhana Dhan offer which gives its Prime users 1GB of free data daily for Rs 309 and 2GB of free data daily for Rs 509. Jio which had its Summer Surprise Offer scraped by regulatory body TRAI, was quick enough to introduce this new offer. Jio managed to keep its customers happy even after its free services were no longer available with the introduction of its Prime membership which still offers data at a very affordable rate. Vodafone had recently announced its merger with Idea Cellular, and it remains to be seen if these two telecom giants will be strong enough to stir Jio off its pedestal.
