Vodafone India is majorly revamping its service ahead of its planned merger with Idea Cellular. The telecom operator has been improving its customer service and has now introduced another new feature. It is rolling out ‘Data Usage Alert’ option to its prepaid subscribers.
Now, Vodafone prepaid users on any of the daily data limit plan will now be shown a data usage warning if they complete their daily quota. The ability to check your daily usage will come handy since telecom operators are increasingly launching data plans with daily data benefit and Vodafone has been adding a number of tariff plans with daily data benefit. Vodafone offers a wide-range of prepaid plans with daily data benefit to its prepaid subscribers priced at Rs 255, Rs 349, Rs 569, Rs 509, Rs 511 among others.
Vodafone customers on any of the SuperPlans will be shown a message indicating the data usage alert message when they browse the web after completion of the daily FUP limit. According to Telecom Talk, this is the most requested feature from telecom subscribers since they often need to open the telecom player’s mobile app to check their usage.
A Vodafone user notes that the telco redirected him to a website displaying the data usage alert when they tried to open a particular website. The website displayed the message “As per regulatory norms, internet service has been stopped after pack quota/validity. To use data @standard rates, SMS START to 1925 or to buy a data pack dial *444#.”
It is not clear whether Idea Cellular and Bharti Airtel are also offering the same facility. However, it is likely that these two players will also follow on the footsteps of Vodafone India. The feature will ensure that you don’t use data without knowing that you have exhausted the daily limit. Reliance Jio is the only other telecom operator that shows a message when you use data beyond the daily limit.

The move suggested by DoT will ensure that users don’t need to go to their telecom operator’s app to see their data usage. When Vodafone users exhaust their daily data limit, they will be notified about it even when they try to browse the web.
