To begin with, the new Rs 199 plan is available to postpaid subscribers. While the data on offer is 1GB, it valid for 28 days. For calling, the offer is for unlimited calling, however, you can only make calls calculating 250 minutes in a day. This limit is applicable inclusive of local and STD calls made to any network. The weekly limitation is 1,000 minutes. Also Read - DoT permits telecom service providers to go ahead with 5G trials
Once you exceed the daily limit of 250 minutes, Vodafone will charge you 30 paise per minute. Also, as India Today notes, if you make calls to more than 300 unique numbers in a week, you will be charged 30 paise per minute for the remaining validity.
If you are a Vodafone postpaid customer and move to this plan, you will also be eligible for a free subscription to Vodafone Play.
The entry of Reliance Jio in the network business has prompted incumbent operators to introduce newer data and voice calling plans almost regularly now. The latest Rs 199 plan by Vodafone seeks to compete against the Rs 149 plan by Jio, under which the company is offering slightly more 2GB of data, unlimited calls to any networks and unlimited SMS. Post the 2GB data limit, the speed is reduced to 64Kbps.
Meanwhile, in a bid to accelerate the process of re-verification of subscribers with Aadhaar linkage, Vodafone is conducting a pilot in the rural regions of Rajasthan where it has deployed special vans to help customers complete the process right from the comfort of their homes.
