Vodafone has launched a new prepaid plan in India, priced at Rs 597. The plan takes on the similarly priced plan from Airtel directly, and is targeted at feature phone users primarily. The Vodafone Rs 597 plan offers 112 days of validity for smartphone users and 168 days of validity for new feature phone users, with unlimited calls during the validity period, 100 SMS per day and 10GB of data.
The plan is ideal for feature phone users, since it offers unlimited voice calls within India to all India numbers with no listed FUP on the calls. These users will also get the full validity at 168 days, which is a little under six months in total. The cost of the plan therefore comes to a little over Rs 100 per month, representing massive value for users who intend to use it primarily for calling.
Apart from this, 10GB of data is also offered, which is valid for the entire duration. This might be a little less for smartphone users, and is best suited for people who don’t use too many internet-based applications on their smartphones, or can rely on Wi-Fi at their homes and workplaces. The benefits are the same as the equivalent Airtel plan. The benefits are also aimed squarely at keeping Vodafone users on the network, as Reliance Jio intensifies its offerings with the JioPhone range and its associated plans.

Users buying the JioPhone have the option to buy the Rs 594 plan, which gives users similar benefits for a six month period. The regular JioPhone plans start at Rs 49, which gives 28 days of validity along with 1GB of high-speed data, unlimited calls and unlimited SMS.
