Volkswagen looks up to Apple for design inspiration for its electric vehicles: Report

The automaker aims to turn profits on battery-powered vehicles when they launch in 2020.

According to a Reuters report, Klaus Bischoff, head of Volkswagen brand design says, “We are currently redefining the Volkswagen values for the age of electrification. While a lot of fingers may be raised on Apple for its products’ performance lately, nobody has anything on the tech giant when it comes to design. Whether that goes for the design of its products or the operating system they run on, Apple knows how to stand apart from its competitors. Bischoff apparently said that Volkswagen will use the Geneva Auto Show between March 5-7 to give early guidance on what the post-ID generation of electric vehicles might look like.

The automaker aims to turn profits on battery-powered vehicles when they launch in 2020. Reuters reports that the company plans to spend “6 billion euros on a new modular platform dubbed MEB, designed to underpin over 20 purely battery-powered models such as the ID hatchback, ID Crozz crossover and the ID Buzz microbus.”
