Microsoft has decided to pre-install Candy Crush Saga on Windows 10 along with the traditional Solitaire, Minesweeper and Hearts. Even users who upgrade from an older version of Windows will see this game installed on their machines, whether they want it or not.The announcement comes at a time when people are expressing displeasure against the “bloatware” shipped with the operating systems and computers. (Remember Lenovo Superfish?) On the contrary, Microsoft has been bundling games on Windows from long time ago and we don’t see how it poses a serious problem.

The Microsoft post also says that King, Candy Crush Saga publisher would bring all their new games for the Windows 10. Candy Crush Saga has been one of the most popular matching games across multiple platforms and it has crossed 1 billion downloads on the Google Play Store. This could be one way of Microsoft ensuring that even if developers are not keen to invest on its Windows platform, it can offer them a deal they can’t refuse. During its annual BUILD conference last month, Microsoft announced it expected over a billion devices to run on Windows 10 over the next two to three years.

On a separate note it would have been great if Microsoft had provided the users with an option to uninstall the game so that no one is “forced” to keep the game without actually playing it. This could end up to be something similar when Apple decided to gift every user with a U2 album, which got a lot of flak from users.
