We all know of at least one person who has locked in a bathroom, but more often than not, it is too embarrassing a tale to recount. But a video posted by YouTuber coolkidirish shows an elaborate rescue effort involving a drone that makes getting trapped totally worth it. We have seen so many videos and rescue operations performed by drones, but we have never seen a drone being used like this before. An Irish man used his DJI Phantom to rescue a person who was stuck in a bathroom and unable to unlock the door from the inside. The video shows the man standing in the garden of his house when the drone picked flight, and you can see a twine attached to it with a pair of keys tied at its end. The man expertly pilots the drone to hover it over the house and slowly brings it down, so that the end of the twine reaches near the bathroom window. The person trapped in the bathroom ties the key to the twine, and the drone successfully brings the key back. Which, he describes in the video description, he later used to unlock the bathroom from the outside.
It is impressive to see the pilots precision at flying the drone. But when you watch the video, you just cannot ignore the background track of Mission Impossible. The soundtrack is apt and really adds drama to the rescue.
This video is just another cool use a drone can be put to. In the past as well, drones have been used for some extremely useful purposes. Indian Railways has used drones to inspect a mega rail project to assess the progress on the ground, and it plans to use drone to monitor other under-construction schemes as well. In another instance, in 2015, for the first time, drones were used to monitor the Bihar assembly polls.
