OnePlus 5 launched last week, and ever since its first sighting, the flagship device has been panned for the design similarities to the Apple iPhone 7 Plus. While the internet is filled with OnePlus 5 camera tests, durability tests, reviews and comparison videos with rivals, a new video by PhoneBuff YouTube channel showcased pits the OnePlus 5 against the iPhone 7 Plus in a performance test. For one, Apple iPhone 7 Plus runs on iOS and OnePlus 5 runs on Android OS. The speed test video in question shows the creator diving through a series of apps on both OnePlus 5 and iPhone 7 Plus, with the timer running in the background. Although both the smartphones give each other stiff competition, it was OnePlus 5 which turned out to be faster one and the 8GB RAM takes care of the job impressively.
The new OnePlus 5 comes in two variants with 8GB RAM/128GB storage and 6GB RAM/64GB storage. It is powered by a Snapdragon 835SoC and runs on Android Nougat 7.1.1 based Oxygen OS 4.0. The Apple iPhone 7 Plus, on the other hand, has 3GB RAM and is backed by Apple’s A10 Fusion chipset. From the video, while iPhone 7 Plus managed to open apps like Photoshop Mix and Calendar faster than OnePlus 5, the Android flagship killer glided through apps such as camera, gallery, Subway Surfer, Spotify, Netflix, Amazon and Lapse It. OnePlus launched the OnePlus 5 in India with prices starting from Rs 32,999. The phone boasts a dual camera setup at the back featuring a 16-megapixel primary wide lens sensor along with 20-megapixel telephoto lens for depth-of-field effect. On the front, it has a 16-megapixel selfie snapper. It is fueled by a 3,300mAh battery, and comes with trademark Dash Charge for quick charging. Within a week of launch, OnePlus has already rolled out two consecutive software updates which as per the changelog offers camera and performance stability improvements.
