Apple Park is spread over 2.8 million square feet and has been in construction for over 3 years. The timelapse video details this journey and starts right from 2015, when the entire ‘spaceship’ was only beginning to be put together. The evolution of not just the mothership but even the surrounding buildings in the campus is detailed by the timelapse video. On the other hand, Sinfield’s video shows the mothership closely and in slightly more detail. The most important element in Sinfield’s video is the Steve Jobs Theatre, which is completely lit up and shows the lobby on the inside. The entire theatre is encased in an all-glass exterior and comes with a carbon-fibre roof, which is the largest of its kind. The main theatre is underground. The theatre is created as an ode to the late Steve Jobs, founder of Apple. The theatre sits on top of a hill and is located quite away from the main mothership area.
The video also gives a glimpse into the the out-buildings that house a fitness center, artificial hillocks and mounds, mini-forests. The Apple Park is in Cupertino, California and was Steve Job’s dream. He commissioned the building in 2009 and termed it the ‘best office building in the world’. Since the passing of Steve Jobs, the Park is treated more as a gift from Jobs to the present and future employees of Apple. Apple Park is constructed to be a completely self-sufficient eco-system.
Apple employees have already started moving into the new campus since April 2017. However, the construction of the campus is yet to be completed. The The entire Park is expected to be ready in late 2018, as per recent reports. The structure is designed to be eco-friendly and comes with underground parking, leaving the entire empty structure on top to be covered in greenery. The Natural gas and Solar Panels will power the entire campus with there being bicycles kept for employees to move around or even for exercising.
