Nokia launched its cheapest budget smartphone the Nokia 3 in India for Rs 9,499. Budget phones usually have cheaper build quality with low-end specifications when compared to flagship devices. YouTube channel JerryRigEverything got their hands on the Nokia 3 and decided to put it through the drop test, which proves it’s a warrior. The video shows HMD Global’s Nokia 3 being put through three different tests scratch test, fire test, and bend test. The phone is first put through a scratch test, which it survived for much longer than we’d expect. The display of the smartphone survives till level 6 on the Mohs scale with 10 being the hardest to scratch. The device sports an unspecified version of Corning Gorilla glass. When the scratch test is carried on the front camera and button at the bottom, which is tucked under the same front glass protecting it from any scratches. At the back, the camera with a plastic cover gets scratched easily. The rear of the smartphone is made of plastic and is prone to scratches including the sides and the bottom.
During the burn test, The Nokia 3 turns the screen back but recovers rather soon. The YouTuber says that the screen turned black within 10 seconds of coming in contact with fire. Lastly, the smartphone was put through bend test, which the phone survived as well. The phone was bent from both directions leaving the body as it is. The smartphone comes with a polycarbonate back with a slim body and narrow bezel, making it compact enough to hold in one hand. Nokia has pretty much made the polycarbonate body look and feel premium. The metal frame that runs along the sides of the phone adds to the look of the smartphone. At Rs 9,499, the Nokia 3 is placed in a very competitive market which is currently dominated by Xiaomi. Its Redmi Note 4 and Redmi 4 are currently the best selling smartphones of the quarter overtaking Samsung Galaxy J2 at the top position. In terms of specifications, the Nokia 3 comes with the smallest 5-inch HD screen and sports a quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor with 2GB RAM. On the camera front, the smartphone sports an 8-megapixel camera on both the front and back sides and packs a 2,650mAh battery.
