The video is part commercial and part test footage, starting with a lakeside conversation between friends about using the Flyer to meet up, suggesting it to be a much faster alternative to a boat.

Now, Kitty Hawk doesn t exactly mention what the Flyer is, other than for meeting people living by a waterbody. It hasn’t set a price for the retail version either. However, according to The Verge, the company is enticing eager pilots with a $100 three-year membership that offers priority placement on a waiting list, company-branded gear, and exclusive access to a flight simulator and company events. These members will also get a $2,000 discount off the eventual retail price.

The company, which calls itself the future of personal flying, started operations in 2015, and believes everyone has access to personal flight, and hence their aircrafts will be ensured to be safe, fun, and easy-to-fly. ALSO READ: Apple could launch satellite-based internet services

While Kitty Hawk is on its way to make its debut, Zee.Aero, is another flying car company that Larry Page has invested in, which is also a part of Kitty Hawk. Zee.Aero has also been known to be functioning under secrecy since its commencement in 2010, and that Larry Page had invested more than $100 million in it so far.

It is interesting to note that where Larry Page-backed Kitty Hawk is not really the only company working on the idea of a flying car. Industry giants like Airbus have proposed multiple takes on a flying car, a startup called AeroMobil aims to launch a flying car this year. Then, Uber is also known to be working on a VTOL project, and will apparently be holding a conference in Texas this week about its own flying car ambitions.
