Google introduced its upcoming smartphone operating system Android P at its I/O developer conference back in May. While the company showcased a range of its features, it did not shed any light on what it will be calling it. Google is touted to do that in August, which is when it is expected to roll out the final version of the operating system. But we might not have to wait that long for it. It looks like the market name of Android P has just been revealed, because of a recent Huawei customer care service blunder. According to a report published by the Polish website Tabletowo, Google could very well be planning to call its new operating system Android Pistachio. The website states that the information had been revealed to a customer mistakenly by Huawei s customer care support, when he contacted them to find out if his Huawei P9 Lite smartphone was getting an Android 8.0 Oreo update. The customer got a response which contained all the updates that the smartphone will be receiving this year. Here, the Android P update was mentioned by Huawei as Android Pistachio.
It s also not the first time that Android P has been suggested to be called Android Pistachio. Previous reports from Bloomberg and The Verge have both suggested the name as well. Bloomberg s report claimed the operating system to be internally called as Android Pistachio Ice Cream. The Ice Cream might have been added to keep the tradition of naming the operating system after a dessert. However, with the new report surfacing, it looks like Google will be dropping the Ice Cream from its name.
