Google is all set to rework the look of Wear OS and how people use the swipe functionality. Besides that, there is also a new feed coming to Google Assistant with faster access to Google Fit for smartwatches running on Wear OS. The notifications are also being reworked to fit more information in them.

This revamp comes after a bunch of new features were added when Google Wear OS 2.0 was introduced. Most are of the opinion that with Wear OS 2.0 many new things may have been introduced, but some things need attention to detail. Users need to swipe left or right to change watch faces, but now users will have to long-tap the watch face to bring up the changing menu.

Now with the new interface, when users swipe right, a Google Assistant feed will be toggled, swiping left will toggle Google Fit fitness-tracking rings, swiping up for notifications, swipe down for quick settings shortcuts, short press the main button to see all apps, and long pressing the main button will trigger Google Assistant, the AI-based voice Assistant from Google.

The Google Assistant feed will show the user relevant information and news which is similar to how Siri does things. Many feel that this is similar to Google Go that used to show information in the scrolling cards format.

As for the new notification interface, it retains the same basics, but will now have more information in the notifications, and dismissing them on the phone will also dismisses them from the phone’s notification bar. These will appear as a single scrolling panel instead of taking up the entire screen.

And with a swipe left, users are greeted by the Google Fit screen that shows both the ‘move minutes’ and ‘heart points’. Swiping down brings up the Quick Settings which now has two new buttons added to it: finding your phone and Google Pay.

“We’re evolving the design of Wear OS by Google to help you get the most out of your time,” Google wrote in its blog post. The changes will roll out soon, and are in line with the rumored Google smartwatch that could be revealed alongside the Pixel smartphones this year.
