Engineers are everywhere and if you’re in India, you definitely have a friend who is an engineer. Today is Indian Engineer’s day. The day is celebrated every year on 15 September as a tribute on India’s most noted engineer Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. Born in 1861, M Visvesvaraya transformed Mysore into a modern state and constructed the Krishna Raja Sagara dam. The first engineering college in India was established during the British Raj in the Uttar Pradesh in 1847. The college was set up for the training of Civil Engineers at Roorkee. Every year, millions of students graduate from these centers and other engineering institutes who go on to work at some of the biggest firms like Google, Microsoft, Infosys, ISRO, and others. Google CEO Sundar Pichai is a graduate from IIT Kharagpur, while Satya Nadella graduated from Manipal Institute of Technology.
