Facebook-owned instant messaging platform, WhatsApp, is constantly being updated with new features. Recently, the company added stickers to make your chats interesting, changed rules of ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature, added picture-in-picture (PIP) mode, and more. Now, the company is reportedly testing a new feature called that will enable you to enjoy distraction-free holidays.
WABetaInfo, the Twitter handle that keeps a track of changes in WhatsApp beta versions has discovered a new feature called “Vacation Mode” in the latest beta build. You can expect the feature to make its way to the messaging platform over the next couple of months. So, what does this feature do? When activated, it will mute all chats and archive them when a new message arrives.
If you want to check who all pinged you, a separate preview message notification option will be there too. Besides the vacation mode, the company is also reportedly rolling out ‘Silent Mode’ which will prevent the app icon badge from displaying notification and content from muted chats.
Lastly, WhatsApp is also working on Linked Account feature, something that is being developed for WhatsApp Business app. It will enable account linking to external services like Instagram. The purpose of the same is unclear at the moment, but it could enable same sharing status across platforms, or could enable password recovery. We will come to know more when the feature goes live.
Recent WhatsApp updates fixed bugs that enabled hackers to break into video calls. The company also make it easy to reply to messages using “Swipe to Reply” which is already available with the latest version.
