WhatsApp business has been in the news for quite some time now. About a month back, WhatsApp started verifying business accounts on its messaging app. The service is still in testing mode, and WhatsApp allows you to start using it. Discovered by an Android Police reader, this service will be launched as a standalone app called ‘WhatsApp Business’. You can use WhatsApp as well, but two different mobile numbers need to be registered for each app.
WhatsApp Business has the same green chat logo, but with the letter B in the center. The layout remains the same with WhatsApp Business displayed on top along with the search bar and Settings icon. The four tabs for chats, status and calls are also visible. Under Settings you will see new additions including Business Settings and Statistics. You will be able to view the number of messages sent, delivered, read and received under Statistics.
Business Settings allows you to edit your business profile, and set automated messages for your clients. Delving further into it, you can set your business name with location, verified/unverified badge, business description, email address and website. You can further choose a category which suits best for your business. There are a number of options to choose from including Automotive, Event Planning & Service, Grocery & Supermarket, among others. Coming to the automated message section, this allows you to set an ‘away’ status for your clients and customers. You can save a custom message with text and emoji for your away status which will be an automated response for when your customers are trying to reach you. You can either turn it on/off or schedule a start and end time and date. ALSO READ: WhatsApp beta for Android reveals storage control, voice to video call switch, and more
As seen previously with WhatsApp Business accounts, if you come across an account WhatsApp will notify you. Upon starting a new chat a message will pop up notifying you that the account you’re chatting with is a business account. It will also show whether the account is verified or not. Features for WhatsApp Business are pretty basic now but that’s understandable considering it’s still in beta mode.
