WhatsApp Call feature has managed to reach all Android users’ smartphones, while iPhone users still await the roll out. Now, in a new development, the voice calling feature is also reportedly hitting Windows Phone users soon. The timeline and availability details are scarce, but WMPowerUser reports that a query to the company’s support team confirmed that the folks at WhatsApp are working towards bringing WhatsApp Call to Windows Phone users. “WhatsApp Calling for your platform is still in the works. Unfortunately, we cannot comment on any future release timelines but we appreciate your interest in WhatsApp Calling,” the company wrote.
This means that WhatsApp voice calling is definitely coming to Windows Phone devices sooner or later. As far as iOS users are concerned, delays are being credited to ‘platform restrictions’. Co-founder Brian Acton did say that the rollout is coming in the ‘next couple of weeks’, but no definite timeline from WhatsApp has been announced yet.
Even WhatsApp Web, which was launched in January, is again an Android-only feature. The company had then said that iOS users could not get WhatsApp Web due to limitations in the iOS ecosystem, but they did promise that they were working on it . There have been no updates on that ever since, and no news at all on when Windows Phone users will get this desktop feature as well.
