WhatsApp for Android has received a new update. Spotted by Android Police, the update adds new emojis including new characters and facial expressions from the latest Unicode update. While Web and iOS users have had these emojis for quite some time now, they are now being made available for Android users as well. The new emojis include expressions for things such as hugs, upside down smiles, rolling eyes, racing cars, medals, champagne bottle, spider, unicorn and more. The latest WhatsApp version 2.12.441 is now available to download via the Google Play Store. This is however a gradual rollout, so in case you haven’t received a notification yet, you should check back soon.
Earlier this month, WhatsApp introduced an update bringing big changes to the groups. After the update, the capping for members in a group has been raised from 100 to 256 members. The company also revealed that its active user base had crossed a billion.
WhatsApp has also revealed that currently there are over a billion groups on the platform, with users sending 42 billion messages on a daily basis. Also, about 1.6 billion photos and 250 million videos are shared by users every day.
