FactorDaily quotes a BookMyShow source as saying, (We are) not piloting we have integrated with WhatsApp for sending confirmation and in more than (one) way The conversations are on various fronts. BookMyShow essentially sends confirmation message to the user on WhatsApp through its verified account for its booked tickets. In addition to sending confirmation details via WhatsApp, the report says that BookMyShow could also be introducing new business options such as payments. More companies like Ola, OYO Rooms and private airlines are said to join what s being called as WhatsApp for Business .
Traces of WhatsApp s business venture were found last year too in a report by HT. The same business prospect was shared taking examples of Ola and Uber of sending notifications and making calls via WhatsApp. Complementing this report, it is now said that Ola may use WhatsApp for sending OTPs and payment receipts. WhatsApp is yet to officially announce its partnership with companies for monetizing its messaging platform. WhatsApp s beta program for business profiles for BookMyShow shows that you will get a prompt telling you that the conversation is taking place with a business account. The messages will be displayed in yellow color and cannot be deleted. WhatsApp also says that if the particular business s phone number isn t saved in a user’s contacts list, then the name of the registered business will be displayed instead.
