To begin with, users will only have the option to send Stickers from one existing pack named Cuppy by Minseung Song that comes pre-installed. Users can head to the store to remove the existing pack and install addition sticker packs. For the uninitiated, stickers are different from emojis, images, or GIFs. They are not supported natively in operating systems or online platforms like Emojis and they don t behave like separate attachments that need to be searched and downloaded. According to a detailed report by WABetaInfo, Android users need to be on the version 2.18.329 of WhatsApp and iOS users need to be on the version 2.18.100 to ensure that they get the latest feature. If you still can t get the feature then you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the app after you have taken the backup of your chat history. The stickers behave similar to anything that is sent in the chat that means that they can be deleted, starred, replied to, or even sent as a forward. Multiple stickers can also be grouped together similar to how the app groups multiple images and videos together.
WhatsApp has also added a Sticker Category section, right next to the Clock section and Starred section. These sections are present right below the text field when you tap the stickers icon. The clock section represents the most sent stickers, the star section shows your favorite stickers and the heart symboled icon is the Sticker Category that segregates stickers based on four types or emotions that the user may want to express, the happy expression, the heat expression, the sad expression, and the surprised expression.
At launch, the store comes with 12 sticker packs that are already present on Facebook. The existing packs include Cuppy, Salty, Komo, Bibimbap Friends, Unchi & Rollie, Shiba Inu, The Maladroits, Koko, Fearless and Fabulous, Banana, Biscuit, and Hatch.
All the current stickers are static but the company is likely to add animated stickers in the future. In addition to that, the report also notes that WhatsApp is likely to bring support for sticker packs made by third parties in the future.
