WhatsApp was bought by Facebook last year, and it only seems inevitable that the latter would integrate some of its features into to the former. WhatsApp beta tester Ilhan Pektas claims that a future update will introduce a like button for images shared in groups. Not a lot is known at the moment, but it seems to be a neat feature that will only improve group chats. Needless to say, the button is directly inspired from Facebook, where too users can like posts and photos. Also Read - WhatsApp's View Once feature will make photos and videos vanish once seen
WhatsApp has recently brought quite a few improvements to group chats including blue ticks for read messages, the ability to see who is typing, the ability to assign other members as administrators, as well as increased the number of group members.
FROM EARLIER: Why WhatsApp s Blue Ticks are more annoying than helpful
The other feature spotted on WhatsApp beta is the ability to mark a message as unread. Last year, WhatsApp introduced blue-colored double ticks, which essentially confirm that the recipient has read the message. More than being helpful though, these ticks can lead to awkward situations. Seems like the company will let users mark read messages as unread. This is a feature that is already available on email services, as well as Facebook Messenger.
These features do sound interesting and are heavily inspired by WhatsApp s parent company. It is however too early to say if the aforementioned features will make it to the next app update.
