Moments ago at DLD Conference in Munich, WhatsApp CEO Jan Koum announced the mobile messaging service now has more than 430 million monthly active users globally. This means that WhatsApp has added over 30 million monthly active users in just one month, from the 400 million users it claimed in December. WhatsApp also revealed to BGR India that it now has over 35 million monthly active users from India, which is an addition of over 5 million users in slightly over a month. Kaum also revealed that over 50 billion messages are sent and received (incoming and outgoing) every day over WhatsApp. Also Read - HalloApp: Two ex-WhatsApp employees develop this ad-free social networking app
Koum will also be delivering a keynote address at next month’s MWC. Going by the run rate, we wouldn’t be surprised if the number is close to 475 global million monthly active users though what we would be looking out for is how long it would take it to breach the 500 million mark.
