WhatsApp seems to have released a new feature that should be welcomed by many who are part of groups on the messaging service. The feature shows you which member of your group is currently typing a message. The functionality is the same as when you are chatting with individuals on WhatsApp. With the messaging service recently increasing the number of members you can add in a group from 50 to 100, it can sometimes get frustrating to keep a track of who all are typing. With this new feature, you will now know exactly when and which group member is typing.
While this is surely a welcome feature, not every feature WhatsApp recently introduced has gone down well with its over 600 million userbase. Yes we are talking about the dreaded Blue Ticks. The blue ticks, which tell you that the recipient has indeed read your message, are seen by many as a breach of privacy.
This feature was not only the subject of a lot of complaints, but also a lot of ridicule on the social media. While there is a way for users to disable these blue ticks, it is only available in beta stage for now, and there is no word on when it will be widely released.
