Back in January, WhatsApp started beta testing a new feature in “Group Chats” that would allow administrators to “dismiss” or “demote” other administrators. WhatsApp has now started officially rolling out the feature to Android and iOS users. It is available on WhatsApp for Android version 2.18.116 and iOS version 2.18.41, Wabetainfo reports.
Earlier, administrators could promote participants as admin, but in order to demote them, it was necessary for them to leave the group, and add back as a normal participant. But with the latest update, you will no longer need to go through this hassle. You can now open the Group, tap on Group Info, and then tap on the participant.
If one of the participants is not an admin, you will see an option to “make admin” and if they are already an admin, there will be an option to “dismiss as admin”. The feature is available on WhatsApp Web interface as well. However, while you can dismiss other participants as admins, WhatsApp doesn’t allow you to dismiss the group creator as admin.

The recent WhatsApp updates have also added some nifty features to the platform. One of the features lets you download accidentally deleted media. It supports all types of media, including GIF, images, videos, voice messages, and documents. By default, WhatsApp stores media on the server for 30 days, until you download on the device. Now, with the update, even if you deleted it, you can easily retrieve it back. WABetaInfo reports that data as old as 2-3 months old can also be retrieved.
