After weeks of testing, WhatsApp has finally introduced the feature that allows one to share any type of file over the messaging platform. In order to get access to the new features, you will be required to upgrade to the iOS version 2.17.40. The update is about 99.6MB in size and introduces three new features. To begin with, you can now send documents of any type with formats including MP3, AVI, APK and more. Prior to the update, users were able to share only certain type of files such as PDFs and standard image formats among others. To send a document, you need to simply open a chat, tap on attach and then on the document. Also Read - WhatsApp adds new durations to Disappearing messages feature: Here's how to enable

Although these shared files are limited to 100MB size according to WhatsApp s website, some iOS users have reported that they were able to send slightly larger files of up to 120MB. ALSO READ: Uber, Amazon are integrating UPI; Google, WhatsApp to follow: Report

Other than the ability to share any type of files, the new update also allows one to pin a conversation to the top. To pin any conversation, gently swipe right on the chat to release the Pin option. You can pin up to three conversations including group conversations. This is particularly helpful in case you want to keep you favorite conversations to the top. With group conversations spamming with incessant messaging, this nifty new feature is a good move towards keeping the relevant conversations on the top. To unpin any conversation, swipe again to the right and tap on unpin.

Improving further on the recently released feature that grouped more than three images, the new update now allows one to send the whole bunch of photos in one go. Earlier, the grouped images would appear in a tile format and if you had to forward these, you would be required to tap on each one of them and send. However, with the new update, iPhone users will be able to easily share the whole album in one go. ALSO READ: WhatsApp Beta on Windows Phone receives recall, multiple select features

Simply long press on the album and choose Forward All or Delete All . In case you still want to send specific images from the album, you can tap on the image and long press to select the desired image. While WhatsApp has become the new way of exchanging images, the quality is often deteriorated because the images would be compressed. With the new update, WhatsApp will also stop compressing photos, thereby keeping the original quality intact.

For Android users, other than the aforementioned features, WhatsApp has also eased on the text formatting feature. Earlier, if you had to bold or italicize a text, you would be required to place special characters. On the latest WhatsApp for Android version, you can simply tap and hold the text and tap on the more option to choose from bold, italicize, or strikethrough for formatting options.
