Wikipedia has released a new feature called ‘Nearby’, which essentially tracks your current location and provides visitors with information related to their surroundings like history, nearby landmarks and more. This feature can be accessed through a webpage on Wikipedia’s mobile website. Also Read - PUBG Mobile then vs Battlegrounds Mobile India now: How much has changed since 2018?
The mobile webpage will track the phone’s location and recommend articles on Wikipedia based on the nearby locations. This should help find historic sites, parks, museums, theatres, cafes and religious buildings in and around the user’s location. Much like Foursquare, Wikipedia is giving its Nearby feature a social aspect by allowing users to upload relevant pictures and information to the articles to improve the quality of local information on the site.
Though this is primarily targeted at mobile users, Wikipedia says it can also be used on PCs by accessing the Nearby webpage.
