At IFA 2018, Microsoft announced that it will be rolling out a new update for Windows 10 in October, which is said to come with some new set of features and design changes. The new update is dubbed as Redstone 5 (RS5) and is already available for users who have signed up for Windows Insiders beta testing. Here are some of the new features the update will be coming with.

One of the most requested feature that Microsoft is bringing to life with the new update is a dark mode for File Explorer. The new update will make it easy to view the screen during the night, as it is a lot subtle to look at compared to an overly bright white screen. It will also most likely help in improving battery performance.

A new Cloud Clipping board will also be introduced. The virtual clipboard will allow users to copy paste text across Windows 10 devices. The feature will likely come to smartphones and tablets as well. Not just that, the clipboard also saves a history of the things that have been copied in the past, in order to let you use them at a later stage. The history of all copy pasted items can be seen by long pressing the Windows + V keys.

Microsoft is also making it easier to take screenshots and edit them on Windows 10 devices now. A new snipping tool is being added, which can be summoned by pressing the Windows + Shift + S keys or by simply pressing the Print screen button. The new tool comes with pre-configured crop options that allow you to take a rectangular clip, custom clip and a fullscreen clip. You can also further sketch on it or make notes.

Improvements also seem to have been made to Microsoft Edge browser. The web browser is getting some design tweaks mostly made to the toolbar. There are also more customizable options included and the settings menu has been changed to make it easier to navigate around.

Other small-time changes are also said to be included. Microsoft is now adding 157 new emojis and also giving users the option to adjust font size across the interface. Microsoft is also working on a Phone app, which will allow users to sync their Android devices to Windows 10 PCs and get access to SMS and other notifications directly on it. A similar app is expected for iOS devices as well.
