After having launched the Yi Camera a while back, Xiaomi has now announced an upgraded variant called Yi Camera Night Vision Edition. Unlike its predecessor that cost 129 Yuan ($21), the upgraded variant costs slightly more at 149 Yuan ($25). The talking point of this new camera is a 940mm infrared camera sensor, which allows you to click photos even in dark. There isn t any kind of flash either, so others won t be disturbed by any strong light when clicking photos. Besides the infrared sensor, the rest of the functionalities remain the same. So in essence you can click photos, record videos, and Wi-Fi capabilities let you stream your photos/videos live as well. Earlier this year, Xiaomi also launched the Mi Sport Action Camera to take on GoPro. The camera features a 16-megapixel Sony Exmor R CMOS sensor with f/2.8 capable of taking 1080p videos at 60 frames per second in H.264 video codec. It offers an ultra wide 155-degree panoramic view. The camera also features built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support, and has an app which could be installed on Android smartphones which among other features lets you edit and share the video.
The new Yi Camera Night Vision Edition will go on sale tomorrow in China via the company s official website.
