The Chinese smartphone manufacturer is seemingly working on a Galaxy Note Edge-like handset. The device is being called the Xiaomi Arch, and from a leaked poster, the handset seems to be a step up from the Edge, as it sports dual-curved edges. First reported by GizmoChina, the phone is pegged to display active notifications and shortcut menus on the edges. The company could utilize one screen to live stream information such as stock prices and updates from games among others. If the company does decide to release the handset, it will be interesting to see if it manages to keep the price of the handset in within the affordable range, one of the USPs of Xiaomi’s product. Xiaomi is expected to launch the Mi 5 and MiPad 2 handsets at the CES tradeshow event next week. From what we have heard so far, the Mi 5 sports a 5.7-inch QHD (1440 x 2560 pixels) display, and is powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor paired with 3GB of RAM, and a 20.7-megapixel rear camera.
The MiPad 2 is expected to feature a 1.8GHz Intel-powered chipset paired with 2GB of RAM, 7.9-inch of display with 2048×1536 pixels, 16GB of built-in storage, and MIUI skinned on top of Android 4.4.4 KitKat. Given the timing of the leak, the company may have plans to launch the handset at CES.
