Xiaomi launched its first gaming smartphone, called Black Shark, back in April this year. The device included a liquid cooling system, was powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC paired with 8GB RAM, and came with a dedicated gamepad. Now Xiaomi is gearing up to launch the successor, which might be called Black Shark 2.

The Black Shark 2 has been listed on China’s TENAA. As always, the listing has images of the upcoming device, and it shows that the overall design is quite similar to its predecessor. The only differences noticeable is the location of the cameras, and the fingerprint sensor that has now been moved to the back of the phone. There is also the Black Shark (S) Symbol at the back of the device like its predecessor.

The model number of the device listed on TENAA is AWM-A0. The listing shows that the Black Shark 2 will feature dimensions of 160×75.26×8.7mm, which means it will be slightly smaller than the Black Shark Phone (161.62×75.4×9.25mm).

The Black Shark 2 is said to retain the 5.99-inches screen size, 4,000mAh battery capacity, and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC under the hood. It is now expected to be equipped with 8GB LPDDR4X memory + UFS 2.1 flash memory like the predecessor. The major changes on the Black Shark 2 then seems to be on the design, camera, and screen resolution front. Xiaomi could also launch a new controller with the Black Shark 2 gaming smartphone.

The Black Shark 2 doesn’t have any expected release date, and the device could still be China exclusive. As per rumors, the Black Shark 2 could be priced at RMB 2,999, which is approximately Rs 32,000.
