To reiterate, only registered users will be able to participate in today’s sale. Manu Jain, Head of Xiaomi India also revealed today that the company has received over 500,000 registration across Redmi Note 4G and Redmi 1S for today s sale. The Redmi Note 4G was sold out in 5 seconds at 2.00PM today. The registrations for the next week’s sale begin at 6.00PM on Flipkart.
The decision to sell two handsets on the same day comes as a celebratory feat for Xiaomi, who recently announced it sold 1 million smartphones in India in five months. The company has seen many ups and downs in this short span, with the High Court issuing a ban on its handsets sale earlier this month. Later, the ban was partially lifted, allowing Xiaomi to restore its flash sales for devices running on Qualcomm s chipsets.
The Redmi 1S has a 4.7-inch HD 720p display, a 1.6GHz Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor paired with Adreno 305 GPU and 1GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 1.6-megapixel front-facing camera, 8GB internal storage that can be further expanded using the microSD card slot, and a 2,000mAh battery. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean wrapped under Xiaomi s MIUI. You can read our review of the phone here.
