Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi supports and finances a lot of smaller brands, which are considered its ‘ecosystem’ brands. One such brand is Huami, which recently launched in India with two options, the Amazfit Bip and Amazfit Stratos. The smartwatches are fitness-oriented and run proprietary UIs that work well with all kinds of phones. A new teaser now suggests that Huami could be looking to launch new smartwatches on September 17.
The teaser was discovered through a tweet which gives away the date of the launch. What’s more, publicity material inside the teaser package also indicates that there could be a tie-up with Avengers: Infinity War, although the movie was released earlier this year in May. This launch could be timed with the home video release of the movie, or some such. Nothing more is known for now, so the reveal will likely carry some surprises.

The Huami Amazfit series currently has four options in India, the Amazfit Bip (Rs 5,499), Amazfit Stratos (Rs 15,999), Amazfit Cor (Rs 3,999) and Amazfit Pace (Rs 9,999). The Amazfit Bip sports a square display with a heart rate sensor, GPS tracking and more, while the premium Amazfit Stratos comes with detailed fitness tracking and a round display, along with GPS tracking, 5ATM water resistance and interchangeable 22mm straps. The Bip and Stratos are available to buy on Flipkart, while the Cor and Pace can be bought on Amazon India.
For now though, the launch event is still some days away. And although Huami itself may not have been able to generate the same level of attention on its own, the fact that it belongs to the Xiaomi ecosystem helps the company immensely.
