Xiaomi appears to be stepping up its efforts in getting users onto newer smartphones. It plans to end support for some of its old devices, which include the Mi 2/2S, Mi 4i, Redmi Note 4G, Redmi 2, Redmi 2 Prime, and the Mi Note. The company has announced that these devices will receive MIUI 9 as their last stable ROM update. The update will be rolled out to these six devices starting next month.

Xiaomi s forum read, MIUI performance is constantly improved to deliver a better and better system experience to all users. However, to ensure the best performance of MIUI, we have to make a tough decision of suspending the update of six devices after a long-time discussion and evaluation about the release time of devices, active users, hardware performance, etc.

Xiaomi mentions that the devices will not receive any closed or public beta updates after November 17. The MIUI Global Beta ROM 7.11 will be the last beta version for these devices, with the MIUI 9 update rolling out starting December.
