Xiaomi has ensured that this new charger works with Quick Charge 2.0 and 3.0 adapter. The experience will, however, be slower as compared to charging directly from a wall adapter. This new charger will also come with a new feature called “Foreign metal object detection” so that the charger can cut off the supply before the metal object on the charger reaches an unreasonable temperature or control the surface temperature of the metal object “within a reasonable range”.
The charger can also charge devices that have a protective case on. However, the company noted that the thickness of the covers should be less than 4mm while ensuring that there are no metal objects in the case.
Other features include temperature protection, over-voltage protection, equipment safety temperature, short circuit protection. The charger is made up of aluminum alloy shell along with a silicon base. We are not sure if and when Xiaomi is going to launch the universal wireless charging pad in the Indian market.
