Xiaomi made its debut in India back in 2014, and the first Redmi Note phablet was launched in November 2014, priced at Rs 8,999. Since then, Xiaomi’s VP Hugo Barra says, the company has sold over a million Redmi Note smartphones in India. Barra is speaking at the ongoing Redmi Note 3 launch event in New Delhi. Since the launch of the Redmi Note, Xiaomi has also launched the Redmi Note 4G, Redmi Note Prime smartphones in India. Apart from announcing the impressive sales numbers, Barra also says that the Redmi Note 3 is the start of a new chapter. Xiaomi is today launching the Snapdragon 650-powered Redmi Note 3 in India. The upcoming smartphone features a full metal body, fingerprint sensor, an IR Blaster and specifications like a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 16-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera, 16GB and 32GB storage options and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and GPS. On the software front, it runs on Android Lollipop-based MIUI 7.
