Last month, Xiaomi launched the Mi MIX 2s in China, and along with the smartphone, the company also launched its AI-based voice assistant called ‘Xiao Ai’. Now, the company has posted a video with English subtitle showing off the digital assistant at work. The video is in Mandarin, and includes China-centric voice commands. But thanks to the subtitles, you can understand the contextual responses the voice assistant offers, and it works similar to Google Assistant, Apple s Siri, and Samsung s Bixby. To begin with, the Xiao Ai will be shipped out-of-the-box with the Mi MIX 2s, and going forward, it will also make its way to other Xiaomi smartphones with a software update, The Verge reports. Sadly, the voice assistant won t be released in India, or any other regions outside China in the near future. As you can see in the video below, the Xiao Ai uses voice commands to control different functions. For instance, you can control music playback with voice commands. You can also ask the assistant about the current time, weather information, check temperature, and set alarms or reminders.
The assistant can also update you with traffic information, send messages to your family and friends on WeChat, and even control smart home assistants, such as the Mi Robot vacuum cleaner. From the video, it is evident that the AI-based assistant will work similar to other assistants.
Recently, Xiaomi also announced a partnership with Microsoft to integrate its voice assistant, Cortana, in Mi AI Speaker. Now, while Xiaomi also launched the Mi AI Speaker with the Mi MIX 2s, there is no word on whether it is powered by Xiao Ai or Cortana.
