Now, a Times Of India report reveals that apart from smartphones, accessories, power banks and the latest Mi Band, the company now plans to launch products from a completely new category in India very soon. The company’s India head Manu Jain confirmed to the publication that the Mi Box, which is a set top box that converts a regular TV into a smart TV, will be launched by the end of this year. The Mi TV is also in the India launch pipeline, but the company is facing some delays due to logistical issues, and will not be able to release it to the Indian market this year. “Our focus is not just phones but also on introducing new categories in India…something around TV and the routers etc. For Mi TV to be launched in India, we have to finalize two things – content strategy and logistics & after sales services. We are talking to a few content providers and aggregators. Since Our TV launch is getting delayed, we are looking to launch another product – Mi Box – a device that turns your TV into a smart TV this year, ” Jain told the publication.
Xiaomi’s product portfolio in India is growing regularly with the company introducing varied gadgets from power banks, to wearables to evencute little LED lights. Its online-only flash sale models have received a phenomenal response in India and within a year since its entry into the Indian market, the company has established its own website and reports of it launching its own e-commerce portal have also surfaced.
