GizmoChina says that unlike the Apple Watch, the Xiaomi Watch will sport a large round dial. The image supporting the report, shows off a metal belt, giving an overall premium look to the smartwatch. It reveals that the smartwatch will have a brushed metal design like the HTC One M9, and will be thinner than normal smartwatches out there. It is also reported to come with pulse wave velocity identification, which is a measure of arterial stiffness, or the rate at which pressure waves move down the vessel. This is a difficult feature to embed in a smartwatch, as it requires a lot of power to run. If Xiaomi manages to overcome this challenge, it will be a big USP for the smartwatch. Xiaomi has pulled all of its best engineers to work on the Xiaomi Watch, and when the smartwatch is ready, it will be shipped at affordable prices, as is the USP of the brand.
Apart from the smartwatch, the report states that Xiaomi is also working on a successor to the Mi Band fitness tracker. Calling it Mi Band 2, the report states that it won’t be that different from its predecessor. With a sporty look and a light design, the band will feature a new NFC sensor in addition to the existing Bluetooth module and accelerator.
