Xiaomi launches another crowd funded MIJIA 1080p PTZ camera

Xiaomi's new crowd funding product is the a 1080p home security camera.


Xiaomi‘s crowd funding platform MIJIA has launched a new pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) camera. This extends its home security essential product portfolio. Priced at RMB 149 (approximately Rs 1,500), the smart camera will be limited to China markets for now. Xiaomi will start shipping the camera from September 15 in China. The company is not known for making MIJIA products available outside the country that often. Thus, details on India availability and price of the PTZ camera remains patchy.

The new MIJIA PTZ camera comes across as an upgrade to the previously launched HD (720p) PTZ camera for RMB 199 (approximately Rs 1900). Interestingly, the new camera can record in Full HD (1080p) and is priced cheaper than its predecessor. However, the smart 1080p PTZ camera features a radical design change from the previous one. It has a rectangular frame which rotates 360 degrees above its circular base.

For the optics, it has a camera sensor with f/2.3 aperture, a viewing angle of 120-degrees viewing angle. It can also rotate up to 93-degree vertically. According to GizmoChina, the PTZ camera makes it is ideal for keeping an eye on your kids or pets when you are away. Further, it features six 940 nanometer infra red LED emitters for night vision and has an 18-step gray-scale restoration feature that develops sharper and sufficiently lit images captured in low-light or night time. The smart security camera is multi-purpose and can also be used as a webcam. Users can use the PiP mode in the camera’s companion app to simultaneously view surveillance images while performing other tasks on their smartphones. The smart camera can be connected to both Android and iOS devices. For the connectivity, the camera supports WiFi and USB port. It uses microSD card or USB flash drives up to 32GB for storage. The camera can also be connected to a cloud server or network attached storage device. It uses a power source of a DC 5V/2A via a port at the rear.
